Scottish band Frightened Rabbit released their sixth album, Painting of a Panic Attack, earlier this year, making a stop at the Wonder Ballroom in Portland and a return visit to opbmusic. Frontman Scott Hutchison’s honest and often gloomy lyrics deal with a breakup on the new album, even as the band works songs like “Get Out” to satisfyingly grandiose choruses befitting the larger rooms the band plays now. The National’s Aaron Dessner produced the new record, giving its sound a thick current of keyboards and guitars to push and pull against Hutchison’s anguished voice.
Watch the band play three songs from the new record, and one of our favorite older Frightened Rabbit songs, “The Modern Leper.” The videos are above or listen via Soundcloud, below.
Frightened Rabbit plays the Newport Folk Festival this weekend, with more tour dates in the Midwest next week.
