Portland-based band Layperson released their debut album, “The Divide,” last year via local imprint Good Cheer Records. The 10-song effort showcased songwriter Julian Morris’ talent for composing complex and catchy folk pop and established the long-time Little Star bassist as a full-fledged bandleader.

In this performance recorded in a stairwell by Banana Stand Media, Morris plays a song from that album, “Caught Around Your Heart,” in stripped-down fashion.

Layperson plays at Holocene in Portland on Sun, Jan. 26 along with Laura Palmer’s Death Parade and Sawtooth (Note: This is a new rescheduled date due to illness).

“Caught Around Your Heart” was performed by Layperson on October 19th, 2019 in Portland, Oregon. The video was shot and edited by Guy Wagner. Audio was recorded and mixed by Matthew Thomson.
